Luis Vasquez
As a native queer Angeleno, born and raised in East Los Angeles and now proudly residing in District two, I have consistently demonstrated a commitment to serving, uplifting, and inspiring my community to build a better Los Angeles. With deep roots in this city and a strong sense of cultural pride, I have navigated diverse environments with resilience and determination. My 12 years of service in the Navy provided me with invaluable leadership experience, where I worked alongside individuals from across the nation and established programs that fostered a cohesive and supportive culture within the ranks of the military. This foundation of discipline and strategic thinking has been instrumental in my subsequent roles. Over the past decade, I have held executive positions that include sitting on boards and commissions with Los Angeles City, and I currently serve on the first-ever LGBTQ+ Commission. These roles have allowed me to influence policy, advocate for equity, and drive initiatives that impact the lives of countless individuals and most importantly, youth.
In 2020, I co-founded Rainbow Labs, a testament to my unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation, particularly within brown, black, indigenous, and LGBTQ+ communities. My work continues to focus on fostering diversity in leadership and ensuring that all voices are heard and represented. As I step into each role, I carry forward a vision of inclusive leadership, dedicated to creating spaces where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Luis was appointed by Supervisor Mitchell and represents the Second District.
